This is an opportunity for those who have already completed a year at Sunnhordland Folk High School. The game company is organized and established as a “Student Enterprise” (Studentbedrift) through a partnership with Young Enterprise (Ungt Entreprenørskap). Read more about the Student Enterprise program here.
As a scholarship student, you pay NOK 30,000 for the entire year. This amount is just under half of the grant you receive from Lånekassen upon completing the year. It covers the essential licenses you need. You must personally cover the cost of any study trips undertaken with your specific program. While you have certain social responsibilities during the year, you retain student status, which means you are eligible to apply for both loans and grants from Lånekassen.
The goal of the game company is to develop a game from concept to finished product together with your fellow “stippers.”
In the past, we have seen game studios such as 4Bit Games, Vertebrae, TripleRam Games, Crimson Council, Overscoped, Studio Frostbit, Lunchy Cat Games, Lonely Oni, Corebreak Interactive, Sundeer Studio, and Star-Catcher Games—all of which used their second year at Sunnhordland Folk High School to develop their games into finished products. Now, we want to give more people the opportunity to turn their dreams into a livelihood. Our current game studio is Perchance Productions.
Academic content
- Game development
- Testing and troubleshooting
- Working in a close-knit team
- Marketing of both games and the company
- Launch of the finished game on Steam

The Workday
As a student entrepreneur, you attend the morning meeting and then spend the workday at the office until the midday break. The day is spent sharing status updates on individual progress, further developing the idea, and, of course, producing the game.
Throughout the work process, it will be crucial to share the game and receive feedback on the work. You will therefore regularly present the development process to both the teacher and your fellow students. Furthermore, testing the game is important.
The student enterprise has its own office at the school.

Outside the office
Being able to market yourself and learning to work in a team are incredibly important. As a member of the game company, you participate in morning meetings, social activities, and other school-organized events.
Overall, you are expected to act as an ambassador not only for your own company but also for the school, and to help foster a positive social environment.

Basis for admission
- A desire for a future in game development
- Strong motivation to start a student enterprise
- Able to work both independently and in a group
- Personal suitability
A desire to be an active participant and contributor in the school community.
